WxView™

WxView Screenshot on laptopWxView™ software processes, displays and archives meteorological data received from the AXYS WxSentinel™ AWOS. Transmitted data can be received via serial, TCP and email, or rebroadcast from the Data Management System to a computer running WxView™, or to a webpage.

The WxView™ software performs four main functions:

  1. Display of real-time wind data speed and direction data
  2. Display of WxSentinel™ ten-minute average data
  3. Archiving of WxSentinel™ data
  4. Automatic FTP upload of HTML-encoded METAR and SPECI data for web display

Real-time (1 Hz) wind speed and direction data is displayed on a large analogue gauge for quick reference of the real-time wind field. Ten-minute and hourly METAR reports are compiled and displayed at the bottom of the screen, and can be available audibly via VHF radio broadcasts and by dialing into the airport station directly.

The web version of WxView displays acquired data on a web page, making it possible to view from anywhere with an internet connection. AXYS provides a data hosting service to back up this software and allows clients to access their data without the need to own and operate their own PC and data management system.

Ten minute averaged data is displayed on the main screen for the following parameters:

  • Wind Speed and Direction
  • Air Temperature
  • Atmospheric Pressure
  • Humidity
  • Visibility
  • Cloud Ceiling
  • Lightning
  • Present Weather
  • Altimeter
  • Dew Point

WxView™ has day/night colour screen profiles, a ten-minute message time-out warning, and a customizable user interface. Views of both current data and historical data can be readily displayed.

WxView™ is a simple, robust display that aids the aviator and controller in his decision-making process by providing a snapshot of the current weather conditions.
