Oceanographic & Environmental Consulting

AXYS Consulting Service TechniciansAXYS Technologies Inc. (AXYS) has within its rank a core of personnel experienced in the design, mobilization, collection and analysis of physical oceanographic data. Typical studies include (but are not limited to) the following classes of programs:

Wave Climate Studies

AXYS Technologies Inc. (AXYS) is a world leader in the collection and analysis of wave climate data. Our staff can generate comprehensive data/analytical reports on any data set collected for most applications. Personnel on staff have been active in this work since the mid 1970's and have participated in research programs, wave climate monitoring for regulatory purposes, ship trials, and port developments/operations. We maintain an extensive lease inventory of wave measuring buoys and pressure sensors, and have the facilities to calibrate the instruments.

Coastal Erosion

This type of program makes use of our in-house wave climate capabilities in conjunction with other measured parameters such as current speed and direction, turbidity, tidal fluctuations, and sediment transport. For these studies we usually retain the services of an associate Coastal Geomorphologist to complement our expertise.

Marine Outfall Studies

The collection and analysis of ocean current, tidal, and water structure data is a required part of any program designing or modifying marine effluent outfalls. We have participated in hundreds of studies domestically and internationally with programs ranging in value from $2,000-$1,000,000. Our data is readily imported into most approved proven plume trajectory and fate models (i.e. US EPA and US Army Corp of Engineer algorithms). AXYS has typically worked with the design consultant engineers who use this data for their design models.

Port Studies

The construction of any in-water or shore-based structures requires knowledge of the physical processes that are likely to have an impact upon them. AXYS Technologies Inc. has assisted many coastal/civil engineering companies in mounting field programs to collect the appropriate types and amount of data necessary for meeting structural design criteria.
