Iridium

Iridium LogoIridium Satellite LLC delivers essential communications services to remote locations, where often no other form of communications is Iridium Globeavailable. Iridium uses a dedicated constellation of 66 operational satellites and 14 spares in low-earth orbit (LEO), which provides global coverage without restrictions to users or applications. Iridium Satellite LLC boasts complete coverage of the earth - including oceans, airways and Polar Regions, making it the only provider of truly global satellite voice and data solutions. Iridium systems are primarily focused on remote phone and digital data service. This system is readily available to private industry and is best applied to situations where large amounts of data need to be transmitted, as airtime is charged by the minute.

Iridium is capable of providing real-time data directly to your computer. With this type of telemetry, Iridiums’ data capacity allows complex data packages, such as spectral wave data from marine buoys, to be transmitted. Iridium’s two-way service gives the potential for power savings over VHF since the Iridium system acknowledges that data has been received avoiding multiple redundant transmissions. The Iridium telemetry option complements our existing telemetry selection, which include: VHF, INMARSAT D+, INMARSAT C, Argos, Orbcomm, GOES and cellular (GPRS & CDMA 1X).

Iridium can be used in conjunction with AXYS equipment or in other applications. Many options are available, please contact us for custom solutions for your data.
