WQxSentinel™

The AXYS WQxSentinel™ is the ultimate multipurpose freshwater buoy system. With a variety of platform options to choose from based on deployment environment and data requirements, WQxSentinel™ is an environmental monitoring buoy that can be configured with a wide range of sensors for collecting data on water & air quality, weather, waves, and currents.

AXYS WatchMate 1.2m buoyAvailable Platforms:

  • TRIAXYS - 1.1m diameter buoy specifically designed to measure directional waves and currents. There have been over 200 TRIAXYS buoys depoyed worldwide.
  • WatchMate - This multipurpose buoy design is a cylindrical aluminum payload compartment surrounded by a molded ionomer foam collar that varies from 1.2m to 1.8m in diameter. There are multiple superstructure options and it is designed for data collection in lakes, reservoirs, rivers, and canals.
  • WatchKeeper - This 1.7m diameter polyethylene buoy is the standard light-duty environmental monitoring platform in lakes, reservoirs, and rivers. It is also internationally proven as an aid to navigation (AToN).
  • 3 Metre - The aluminum or foam 3m buoy is a very rugged and reliable platform designed for long-term survivability in harsh open water environments.

Flexible sensor options allow the WQxSentinel™ to be customized to meet any monitoring requirement. Typical sensor configurations provide water quality parameters such as turbidity, dissolved oxygen, temperature, pH, and conductivity. Additionally, the WQxSentinel™ supports a wide array of meteorological sensors such as wind speed, wind direction, relative humidity, air temperature, and barometric pressure, as well as directional waves and currents.

When combined with AXYS Data Management System (DMS) and SmartWeb data display software, the WQxSentinel™ enables clients to remotely manage their system from a PC. Polling intervals, message and sensor configurations, data collection, archiving, and dissemination are collected through user-friendly graphical interfaces.

The WQxSentinel™ continuously monitors all sensors and outputs data at user-specified intervals. Measured information can be emailed, or posted to a web or FTP site in real-time. Telemetry choices include VHF and UHF, Iridium, Inmarsat D+, GOES, ARGOS, Globalstar, Orbcomm, cellular phone (GSM or CDMA), and landline.
