Buoy Upgrade

What if instead of paying $100,000 for a new met ocean buoy we could upgrade your existing one for a fraction of that cost? What if you could avoid expensive service cruises to a buoy by being able to remotely diagnosis and configure sensors from your laptop? What if your old navigation buoy could generate revenue for you by supplying users with wave, wind or other types of data?

Buoy Upgrade for Planet Ocean Ltd.We have been helping world-leading organizations upgrade their existing buoy systems since 2000. Some of these organizations include the UK Met Office, India’s National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), the Irish Marine Institute and China's Second Institute of Oceanography.

The buoy upgrade scope of work is flexible and is built around your needs and requirements. Our team will discuss your needs with you and after careful review and analysis we will recommend a course of action. This may take the form of a complete buoy overhaul, including the supply of a new power system with solar panels and rechargeable batteries, new wiring, a new controller and telemetry, and new sensors. Or it may simply be the addition of the WatchMan500™ Data Acquisition System to control and reuse your existing meteorological or oceanographic sensors. Depending on the complexity of the scope and customer preferences, we may send our engineers and field service specialists to your site to carry out the upgrade. In other cases we may require the existing buoy or components, such as sensor pod, to be sent to us with work to be performed at our premises. Making sure these upgrades are done properly is paramount to your and our success. All systems from AXYS must first pass a 60 hour burn in test and meet our strict quality control standards before sign off and delivery can happen.

Recent Upgrade

AXYS has recently upgraded a Met buoy for Meteorological Dept, States of Jersey with a WatchMan500™ controller and AXYS-supplied sensors for waves, air temperature and relative humidity, winds, and sea surface temperature. Data collected by the WatchMan500™ is sent via radio telemetry to the States of Jersey personnel.
