Port Sentinel™

AXYS Port SentinelThe AXYS Port Sentinel™ is a self contained and fully automated environmental monitoring station, designed especially for port environments. Port Sentinel™ can operate on mains power or a combination of solar panels & battery power.

Typical sensor configurations deliver wind speed, wind direction, current speed, current direction and water elevation data to port operations staff for timely and accurate decision making. Real time data is displayed in the local port operations centre.

Port Sentinel™ can operate independently, or be incorporated into a more complex Dynamic Under Keel Clearance (DUKC) system.  DUKC is a model for determining the “window” of when a deep draught vessel can enter and leave a port, based upon real time weather conditions such as wave height, tide, current and vessel characteristics. The main benefit of this system is that it introduces a science to aid the pilot’s decision making process.

Port Sentinel™ position and environmental information can be broadcast by AIS (Automated Identification System).  Data transmitted from the PortSentinel™ by AIS is automatically displayed on nearby vessels equipped with ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display and Identification System).

AXYS Port SentinelAs well as enhancing the safety of ships and crew transiting the port, PortSentinel™ can also assist port operations staff in maximising trade throughput.

AXYS' WatchMan500 Network Solution is the core technology in the Port Sentinel that accepts sensors from virtually any manufacturer and is easily configured using Data Management System (DMS) software. Data messages are tailored to meet custom requirements, and are easily imported into a SQL database, allowing users to view important sensor information in virtual real time.
