The WindSentinel™ is the world's only wind resource assessment buoy that uses a simultaneously pulsing laser wind sensor to accurately measure wind speed, wind direction, and turbulence offshore at turbine hub-height and across the blade span.
At the heart of the WindSentinel™ is the next generation solid state laser wind sensor (LWS) designed to accurately measure wind from moving platforms. Using three fixed beams, this LWS can take single focused or multi-point measurements up to a maximum range of 300 meters. The resulting wind data is acquired, processed and transmitted via a selection of telemetry options through our AXYS WatchMan500™ controller. These components have been engineered into the AXYS NOMAD buoy - a proven platform designed to perform in extreme offshore marine environments.
The WindSentinel™ can be deployed to perform wind resource assessments without the high costs and bureaucratic hurdles associated with fixed marine met tower construction. It is completely flexible and can be redeployed to other sites, enabling developers to maximize the return on their wind resource assessment asset.
