AXYS WxSentinel AWOSThe safe and expeditious movement of airport traffic is not an option, it is a necessity and a responsibility. This is true whether your facility is a major international airport or a support facility for a northern resource base. To achieve this, accurate and timely weather reports are essential.

AWOS, (Automated Weather Observation System), refers to a series of meteorological sensors integrated into an autonomous aviation specific system for monitoring and collecting environmental conditions on and around air fields. This data is then automatically reported to airport dispatchers, pilots and meteorologists for use in forecasting, flight planning, landing and takeoff logistics. This important information can be automatically reported to interested parties via radio, cell phone, and Internet protocol or satellite link.

AWOS solutions vary in their complexity, from AWOS Lite, which is built for indoor installation and contains the fewest meteorological sensors, up to AWOS IV, which can report temperature, dew point, relative humidity, pressure, wind speed and direction, visibility, cloud height, present weather, lightening, freezing rain, and runway surface conditions.

AXYS provides high-end, complete turnkey AWOS solutions. The AXYS WxSentinel AWOS supports your facilities’ operations regardless of available manpower or training. This is because the AXYS automated system generates accurate METAR and SPECI reports in response to changing conditions. Moreover, these reports can be displayed on websites and disseminated through email, telephone, and via the optional dedicated VHF frequency voice broadcast.
