Oil and Gas. Military and Security. Ports and Harbours. Renewable Energy. For more than 10 years, TRIAXYS™ Directional Wave Buoys have allowed users within these and other market sectors to make more timely and accurate decisions. The TRIAXYS™ buoy can be configured with a variety of telemetry options and is powered by environmentally and economically friendly solar panels and rechargeable batteries. It can be deployed in water depths from a few metres up to 300 metres. System training commissioning and deployment is available and quite often utilized. The buoy comes with a standard 1 year parts and labour warranty.
Developed in conjunction with the Canadian Hydraulics Centre of the National Research Council of Canada, the TRIAXYS™ Directional Wave Buoy is a precision instrument incorporating advanced technologies that make it an easy to use, rugged, yet economical buoy for accurate measurement of directional waves.
The TRIAXYS™ sensor unit is comprised of three accelerometers, three rate gyros, a fluxgate compass, and the proprietary TRIAXYS™ Processor. This TRIAXYS™ Sensor has recently been upgraded with new features and now provides continuous wave sampling, support for any telemetry, up to 50 Hz motion sampling and up to 32GB (>5 years) of data logging capacity. The "next wave" of the TRIAXYS™ Sensor also uses the WatchMan500™ controller, which is the core technology used in other AXYS monitoring systems.
The TRIAXYS™ Directional Wave Buoy is solar powered which eliminates the need for frequent and expensive battery replacement. TRIAXYS™ is also easy to handle during deployment and can be rolled off a ship deck without any concern for sensor damage due to spinning. It can also withstand extreme temperatures as its sensor is not subject to freezing.
Wave and sea surface temperature data are collected, processed and logged on the buoy and then transmitted via VHF, cellular, or satellite telemetry to a base station hosting AXYS' WaveView™ software. This data display software allows for full presentation and archiving of data along with diagnostic utilities.
The buoy is fitted with an Inmarsat D+ transceiver which allows GPS data to be collected. Upon activation this satellite system also allows for a secondary telemetry should the primary system be unavailable, as well as for Watchcircle alarm, in case of buoy drift. If the buoy was to move beyond a defined radius, the end user will receive a series of alarm messages.
TRIAXYS™ buoys have been deployed in waters from 5 to 300 meters. Standard mooring configurations specially designed for wave buoys are available for water depths up to 300m.
Please see our TRIAXYSTM Mooring Requirements Page for information, calculations and recommendations on moorings for TRIAXYS™ Wave Buoys.
Buoy training, commissioning and deployment is available upon request from AXYS Customer Service department.
