Continuous Water Quality Networks
Continuous Water Quality monitoring has traditionally been an expensive and complex process. However, with new advances in sensing technologies, such as optical dissolved oxygen sensors and anti-biofouling mechanisms, maintenance requirements are diminishing, thus making continuous monitoring much more attractive and beneficial. Combined with the HydroSentinel's support of two-way communications, AXYS can provide solutions for the water quality-monitoring sector that will greatly decrease operating expenses.
Applications for continuous water quality monitoring include environmental assessments for natural resource industries, source drinking water protection, NPDES permit compliance, storm water runoff and sewer overflow monitoring, industrial effluents compliance, stream and habitat studies, water quality research, and total daily maximum loads (TDMLs) monitoring.
With the use of third party sensors, (Analog, Digital, Serial, and SDI-12), the HydroSentinel can continuously monitor:
- Temperature
- Dissolved Oxygen
- Turbidity
- pH
- Salinity/Conductivity
- Chlorophyll
- Various Ions
Additionally, the HydroSentinel can be used in conjunction with automated water samplers to collect scheduled or event-driven water samples, which can then be analyzed in a lab.
When combined with AXYS Data Management Software (DMS) and AXYS WebView interactive web application, the HydroSentinel enables clients to remotely manage an entire network from a PC, controlling polling intervals, message and sensor configurations, data collection, archiving, and dissemination, all through user-friendly graphical interfaces.
