AXYS chosen for Hurricane Mesonet
Hurricane-force winds have caused billions of dollars in property damage just over the last few years. For organizations ranging from the property insurance industry to the National Hurricane Center, detailed wind data is essential for analyzing the impact of storms. Acquiring detailed wind data knowledge requires both strategically located specialized weather monitoring equipment, and a high degree of data network and wind modeling expertise.
Weatherflow Inc. of Scotts Valley, CA has awarded AXYS Technologies Inc of Sidney, BC, Canada a contract for thirty (30) coastal weather stations to be deployed around the South East coast on a variety of public and private sites. WeatherFlow already has an extensive archive of hurricane data and the expanded network will allow them to track future storms even more accurately and reliably. The new stations will focus on delivering high-resolution wind data in realtime, with substantial power and data back-up capability. All systems will contain the modular AXYS Watchman500 DCP (data collection platform) and possess design enhancements for harsh marine and hurricane conditions.
