AXYS Technologies Inc. (AXYS) announced that the Irish Marine Institute (MI) located in Galway Ireland has selected the WatchMan500 as their gext generation buoy Data Acquisition System. As part of the contract win, AXYS will also upgrade Ireland's sensors and telemetry systems. The first phase of the system upgrade will commence in summer 2006.

The Irish Marine Institute recognized a need to upgrade their buoy network with a higher level of funtionality and easier trouble-shooting capabilities. The WatchMan500 gives MI an intelligent, user-configurable control system capable of 2-way communications. Users will be able to remotely observe, command and control the buoys 24x7 from the comfort of their office. Should a problem occur onboard the buoy, remote diagnostic tools can assist users to identify and adjust the system accordingly. The WatchMan500 is also completely expandable and scaleable, allowing for easy sensor 'plug and play' should monitoring needs change over time.

AXYS has an established track record in providing buoy payload upgrades worldwide, having done so in countries such as Canada (over 75 buoys), India, Korea, Italy, Chile and Egypt amongst others.

According to MI's Glenn Nolan, Manager of Oceanographic Services, AXYS was chosen based on its experience in providing off the shelf technology and building reliable and robust buoy networks. "We were impressed with the functionality of the WatchMan500 and are looking forward to working with AXYS on this project."

AXYS' Don Bryan, Manager of Marine Systems said: "The WatchMan500 changes the operational paradigm for all remote monitoring networks. Instead of costly service trips to determine system performance, troubleshooting and adjustments can now be made from the office. This contract reflects another step in AXYS' success and in our commitment to marine, coastal, and terrestrial monitoring using the WatchMan500 solution."

Terms of the contract have not be provided.
