United States Marine Corp. TRIAXYS Mini contract

AXYS Technologies Inc. (ATI) wins contract with the United States Marine Corps (USMC) Camp
Pendleton to provide TRIAXYS™ Mini Directional Wave Buoys.
US Marine Corp marine buoy contract

ATI has won a competitive contract from the USMC for the supply of two small and lightweight directional wave monitoring buoys. The new buoys, called TRIAXYS™ Mini, have been designed to provide highly accurate and reliable wave data while being easy to deploy on short term USMC assignments. The TRIAXYS™ Mini weighs in at 60 kg, is 0.60m in diameter, and can easily be deployed by two people from a variety of vessels. The buoy is powered by a series of lithium battery packs. The TRIAXYS™ Mini givesTRIAXYS Mini Wave Buoy USMC and clients worldwide a smaller and lighter wave buoy option.

The buoy uses proven technology found in ATI’s TRIAXYS™ directional wave sensor and data logger. The TRIAXYS™ Mini will transmit data to USMC via radio telemetry. Waveview™ software, provided by ATI, provides a convenient user interface for display of the resulting wave data. The buoy can be deployed in various depths of water, and can be monitored using ATI’s Watchcircle alarm feature, which notifies a user should the buoy drift from its moored position. Successful field trials conducted by ATI during July and August 2005 confirmed 100% data return rates. The buoys have passed factory testing and have recently been delivered to USMC. Terms of the contract have not been provided.
