AXYS Technologies Inc. (AXYS) will provide 3 Metre oceanographic and meteorological data collection buoys to Brazil's Petroleo Brasileiro S/A (Petrobras).

AXYS has won a competitive contract from Petrobras for the supply of four 3 Metre oceanographic and meteorological data collection buoys. The buoys will be deployed with AXYS Field Service Specialist assistance and will support Petrobras’ 2008 offshore oil & gas exploration activities in 500m of water.

The AXYS 3 Metre buoy is a rugged, deep ocean platform, featuring all-aluminum construction for a long life expectancy. The solar-powered 3m is outfitted with a variety of sensors, including waves, currents, wind speed & direction, temperature, relative humidity and barometric pressure.

Data from the sensors is collected by AXYS’ proprietary WatchMan500™ data acquisition system and transmitted to a shore station by Inmarsat C satellite telemetry. Authorized Petrobras users can access buoy data from their office, while AXYS’ Data Management System (DMS) permits remote control & configuration of the entire buoy network, down to the individual sensor level.
